2025 Committee

Our first ever Hunter Region Young Writers' Short Story Competition was a huge success. We had over 50 entries from 26 schools across the region. Congratulations go to Erin Nuss from St Philip's Christian College Port Stephens for her story The Best Adventure Ever and Isabel Smith from Eleebana Primary School for her story A Dive In The Reef. Both received a certificate and a book voucher from MacLean's Booksellers in Newcastle. Our winner was Nicholas Healey from St Philip's Christian College Newcastle for his story A Deserved Adventure. Nicholas also received a certificate and book voucher but, as part of his winning prize, he received a framed personalised illustration of his story from amazing local illustrator Jenni Goodman. Thank you Jenni! Thanks also go to our wonderful judges Katrina McKelvey and Kaz Savage who had the extremely difficult task of choosing our runners up and winner. Suffice to say that writing is alive and well in our Hunter schools!
